Silence Remover on ToolBesty is a free online audio silence remover that cuts dead air from recordings. Remove every long pause in a voice memo, podcast, or lecture, or just trim the silence at the start and end. Pick a silence threshold, preview the result in the page, and download a WAV — all in your browser with the Web Audio API, so your audio is never uploaded.

Recordings pick up silence everywhere: a pause before the first word, gaps while a speaker thinks, and seconds of room tone at the end. In “Remove all silences” mode the tool finds every quiet stretch longer than the minimum pause you choose and cuts it out, while short natural pauses between words stay in place. “Trim start & end only” keeps the recording intact and removes just the lead-in and tail.

Detection is a transparent loudness threshold, not AI. Audio is scanned in 10 ms windows on every channel; a window counts as sound when any sample reaches the threshold (shown in decibels next to the slider). Raise the threshold if hiss or background hum is kept, lower it if soft speech gets cut. “Keep around each cut” leaves a little silence on both sides of every cut, and each join gets a 5 ms fade, so words don’t start abruptly and edits don’t click.

After processing you see the original and new length, how much time was removed, and how many pauses were cut, with a player to check the result before downloading. The output is a 16-bit WAV with the original sample rate and channels. Change any setting and run it again — the file is decoded once, so re-runs are fast. Any format your browser can decode, such as MP3, WAV, M4A, or OGG, works as input.
