Format and beautify GraphQL queries, mutations, and fragments online with clean indentation. Free, instant, and runs in your browser
GraphQL Formatter on ToolBesty is a free GraphQL formatter that turns a cramped, one-line query into indented, readable text. Paste a query, mutation, or fragment, click Format, and the tool adds line breaks around braces, indents each nested selection set by two spaces, and collapses stray whitespace. It is a quick way to beautify GraphQL copied from logs, network requests, or minified code, and it runs in your browser.
GraphQL queries captured from browser dev tools, server logs, or client libraries are often squeezed onto a single line. Nested selections like user { posts { comments { author } } } become hard to follow. Formatting opens each selection set onto its own indented block so you can see the query's structure and depth immediately.
The formatter works on the text structure: every opening brace starts a new indented level, every closing brace returns to the previous level, commas start a new line, and repeated spaces, tabs, and line breaks are collapsed. Field names, arguments, variables, and directives are kept as written.
It does not check your query against a schema or validate syntax, so an invalid query will still be re-indented rather than rejected. Use it to beautify GraphQL for documentation, pull requests, bug reports, or before pasting a query into a GraphQL client.
